Baby Bump - 19.5 weeks

A few weeks ago (before squam) I had some blood work done to test for problems with the baby… all that scary stuff like spina bifida, cystic fibrosis, downs, etc… The doctor recommended we do the tests just be prepared, and we agreed.
Well, yesterday we finally got the phone call with the results — All clear. No problems foreseen thus far. The baby is healthy.
I said thank you to the nurse, hung up the phone, reported to Colin that the belly bean is healthy, and immediately started sobbing uncontrollably. It just poured out of me… I was so relieved!
I didn’t realize how much tension I was holding about this. I knew it was never far from my mind… People would ask if I want a boy or a girl and all I could respond with is: It doesn’t matter either way… All I care about is that the baby is healthy.
And he/she is.
My very core feels lighter today.

I remember the anxiety I felt with my pregnancies before I found out all that important stuff.
You can think positive and all, but those worries are still there.

i felt the same way when i heard the good news about my fetus. and my elevated blood pressure has been really low/normal ever since. so glad you can breathe freely now!

I know the feeling. I’m currently waiting for my results from the blood tests…

that is great news! i am at 14 weeks and we are waiting for my test results too. (we got iniitial findings last week (which were all perfect) but are waiting for the full results… so we can’t completely relax…)
i’ve always found your website & artwork to be inspiring, and now as you are a few weeks ahead of me, it is even more so. so thank you for that & i look forward to many more happy posts. :)

Oh, and enjoy your little R and R. Pregnant girls are supposed to be allowed to take 3 out of every 4 days off dont-cha-know! (O.K., I admit - not something I’ve ever really pulled off while pregnant, but would have if I could have)

Well, that IS good news about your baby. You both have gone through so much over the last few months that I can only imagine what a relief it was to hear such good news. Take care of yourself during your R&R.
