present moment
March 29, 2008Still unable to write for some reason. I can’t quite get out what I have to say and I’m not sure why not. (It’s getting to be a bit frustrating.) I just keep thinking in pictures, trying to write the words that accompany… to make sense of it for you, but maybe we don’t need them. Maybe you get it anyway…
A few changes around our lily pad: My darling husband now works from home with me. (One off my Mondo Beyondo list!) We are trying this arrangement out for 6 months. A sort of trial basis. And so far so good! It’s very different having someone here during the days. I’m so used to stillness and solitude. Having lots of alone time to create.
He started off in the dining room, but has since moved into my studio with me. Which surprisingly, works very well. We both concentrate on our projects without bothering the other. But if we get stuck or need to bounce some ideas around we can do that easily. “Hey, do you have ten minutes to talk?”
It’s weird. A coworker again after almost 4 years…
We’re not sure what will happen after 6 months, but for now, we are loving this. And whatever happens after 6 months will happen. Let’s just enjoy now, right?
(So, ahem… if you are a design house or an ad agency, etc and need a writer… I may know of one!) :)
I’ll try again later to write more… I’m just happy I got these few paragraphs out!
I’m off to watch the carpenter bees and sip coffee in the sunshine. peace out.

I love your lily pad…I’m having a very relaxed, serene vacation with my two favorite siblings :) Thank you for your hospitality, especially as you transition into this unknown territory. You have built a beautiful life; I’m sure you will continue to prosper creatively and personally. Be calm.
love,
ysil

Wow…it must seem strange having a “co-worker!” I hope all works out well.

That’s awesome! I share my studio with my husband too, but my guy’s a musician/computer geek (yes, that combo exists). It’s really nice to spend time doing my own thing, while also spending time with him. And good to have some company as well as someone to bounce ideas off of. We’ve been sharing the space for over a year and it’s still working well. Good luck!

Sounds delicious. Looking forward to seeing what you emerge with on the other side :)

sounds good to have a ‘co-worker’, I have that sometimes and I think it’s good to bounce back ideas with someone who also works in a creative field. Sometimes I just need a simple yes or no to a particular colour and that speeds up the process…:o)

Oh, thank you for posting this, Penelope! I feel stymied, too. I just don’t know what to do, or how to do it..so I’m letting go of the need to write or paint for now…the want and desire will return.
As it will for you.
(Hope I got the right end of the stick there on how you feel.)
However, congrats on the loveliness of working alongside Colin. It sounds so sweet. Enjoy it, no matter if it does grow tiresome later on…these things are ever-changing! xo Amy

I’ve been sharing my studio with my husband for a few months now, and it’s a very good experience. It’s a real help to discuss your work with a co-worker and it made us as a couple even closer (although I was worried before about working together).
