random things…
December 13, 2007A few posts ago Lesley tagged me to write 8 random things about myself. (sorry so late Lesley!) Here we go:
1. I have a pretty good innate sense of direction and usually know which way I’m facing at any given moment. (It’s because I see the world in kind of a map-view.) This is extremely annoying to my husband because I am constantly being a “back-seat driver”. (sorry c)
2. I have symmetrical freckles on my middle toes and middle fingers. (in no way does this make me special, even though I think it should.)
3. I have a high pitched voice that drives babies and animals crazy (in a good way).
4. I need a fan running in order to sleep. I think of it as a river… if I wake up in the middle of the night, I can easily jump back into the river. If there is no river, I end up wandering around wondering what to do next. (that probably made no sense to anyone but me.)
5. I like to speak in abbreviations. Or abbrevs, as I call them. My diet cokes are “DCs” and what comes out of the stereo is “muse” and the people who live beside me are my “neighbs”.
6. I can’t stand to watch movies involving infidelity or misunderstandings. So a whole genre of romantic comedies has me running for the hills.
7. My right knee usually hurts. Too much volleyball in high school.
8. My husband has no less than 5 subwoofers hooked up in our house. I have so little interest in this that I don’t think I’d recognize one if I saw one. but our house rocks out.
and a bonus:
9. I have never ordered the most expensive thing on the menu.
* * *
That was fun! (and I realize that I’m a pretty annoying person, huh?!) If anyone else wants to play, I open it up to you. :)

You say annoying, I say endearing. And your symmetrical freckles are almost too much to bear.

Your number 4 is something that my brother is about – even when he was very small… No fan, no sleep. In the winter we had to put one of those fan heaters in his room. So, yeah, not so strange as you may think!

Thanks for playing! I hope you had fun. I can completely relate to your 1 and 7. No. 1 annoys my other half too so you’re not alone there! I love that you abbreviate words. It’s cute. :-) Have a great weekend!

I am so on the train with you on your #6, I can’t do romatic movies either. I so run the other way. Hey thanks for sharing.

Ack! I am so with you. I easily lose interest in movies where there’s some ridiculous misunderstanding that keeps people apart…I also sleep with the fan on. No river metaphors for me, though. ;o)
xo,
Kate

How totally fun to read your list! I have to sleep with a fan going too. Will you post a photo of your freckled toes and fingers?

On #4: I like the river analogy. Sometimes when I wake in the middle of the night, I focus my mind’s eye on the fan and drift into the sound. Other times, when I don’t do that… well, here I am in the living room with a laptop and my slippers.

I’m so with you about the misunderstandings in movies thing! That drives me crazy!!! I almost couldn’t watch “How to Watch a Guy in 10 Days” for that very reason. Good to find someone who feels the same way. :)

I’m another fan sleeper! Now I know I am not alone :) It drives my husband a bit mad unfortunately. I have a constant ringing in my ears…not bad but a bit annoying…and the fan helps to block that noise out. I also understand your river analogy. I like the way you put it :)
