new site!

October 18, 2007

In case you haven’t noticed, you are looking at a brand new shiny penelope illustration website! (If you can’t see it, refresh your browser or clear your cache). Oh man… am I excited about it!

This new site is built entirely in WordPress, with the help of Brianna Privett of Utopian.net. (Well, I say “help”, but it was basically all her, I just uploaded all the content.) That means that everything you see (check out all the fun pages!) is basically a blog entry, so you can comment, search, learn more by clicking. It’s amazingly easy and different from what I’m used to (coding by hand). Plus adding new content will be a breeze.

I am still working on a few of the sections (if you have a question you’d like to see in the FAQ section, please email me and I’ll get on it), but for the most part it’s there.

A couple of new features:

- I added a dropdown menu on the right side there called “Currently Inspiring”… these are things that are giving me joy and inspiration lately. I plan to update them monthly.

- I am now twittering… which you can also see on the right here under “What I’m doing”

- And I added books I’m reading…

- (there are more new features, but I am late for an appointment now)

And if you’re an artist in need of a website, I highly recommend getting in contact with Utopian.net to find out about how to get a site that’s easy to manage like this. They are super friendly and patient in working with you. (i.e. I designed this site, but they were instrumental in realizing it.) yay!

And to Brianna: thank you so much. I am constantly amazed by your generosity, genius and genuine self. I’m honored to know you and to be able to work with you so closely. (Also, I owe you my firstborn. hee.)

This is beautiful. I too was about to write you about the site, but I don’t think I can get awesome help with my site since I have hosting with someone else. I’m jealous and Utopian will SO be my host when I renew in…10 months or so.

    *sniff*

oh honey, this looks SO good…
as soon as i opened up the front page i smiled, so much YOU in there… LOVE it :)

    okay, so musing…
i can’t tell if your blog banner is a photograph or a painting…
i really like how especially lately bits of sacred nature have come to infiltrate your art, until i’m not sure what is real and what is art…
and i really love that ambiguity… it feels very earth honouring, and simple, and just right, ya know?
    hope this makes sense.
    xoxo
