new trails…

I’ve been using some different techniques with some of the solo show pieces (are you sick of me talking about this show yet? It’s totally consumed my life, so please forgive me). Leaving behind the linework that I thought made my work what it was. Venturing into new territory involving graphite (like the nashville pieces below), ink and watery acrylic. Not sure if they are feeling cohesive yet, but I’m not stopping to think about it too much. It’s interesting to just play and hope that I (and attendees) will like them. I would love to be one of those artists who can jump medium and still have it all look like one body of work. That takes not only the courage to jump medium, but a leap of faith. (And a big WHATEVS. It is what it is.)

I always find switching gears with mediums and wood versus canvas versus newsprint/paper etc all play off each other and just keep one from getting into a ‘formula’ which happens easily. Cheers to your show.
    Relax.
