Illustration Friday: Remember

This week’s IF topic is “Remember”.

Balt Sun commissioned this piece as a memorial story for a coworker of theirs who had passed last year. I had a really hard time trying to honor that… such a tender story. I did not want to do a straight portrait of her (I don’t do portraits well), but still wanted to get across the sense of her… I ended up sending three ideas, and this was the one they chose: a locket of remembering her…

i agree with goddess; i can feel that the memory is cherished by looking at the way your hand holds the locket. nicely done.

I like the way you handled the delicate topic…the muted colors. An orginal approach to a one-of-a-kind assignment.

What a thoughtful commission. She must have touched the lives of her coworkers for them to ask you for such an illustration.
