assignment #2, if you wanna
January 10, 2007Susanna suggested that I tell you the other ten assignments and we can do them together. Good idea! So if you want to play or need a little creative boost, here’s the next one:

ASSIGNMENT #2
OBJECTIVE: to loosen up creatively. to let go of outcome. to play.
MATERIALS: Sheet of 8.5×11 paper. Black ink. Big paint brush. Scissors. Tape. Camera or scanner (to record result).
PLAN: Coat the sheet of paper in a thin layer of black ink. Let it dry and then cut it up into various shapes and sizes. Then arrange those pieces into a new piece of artwork.
Whatever form looks good to you. No rules… except that you can’t add anything besides the black paper pieces.
The idea was to limit the art in a major way - to make me think about only the shape and composition aspects of the piece… less about the drawing/painting. Make it more sculptural, I guess. (more thinking outside the box. hee)
Scan or photograph and post the result on your blog.

My goal was to do one or two of these assignments each week. So no real deadline per se… but not let myself slack off. Actually get them done. :) So if you want to do these with me, feel free. Post them to your blog and leave a comment here letting people know the link to your blog image and we’ll all check it out. (I hope to get this one done this week, too.)
Have fun!
