ramblings from the looney-bin

November 17, 2006

Don’t you hate it when you can seem to draw anything?! GAH! I can see what I want in my head and it just doesn’t come out that way. It comes out all lop-sided and quirky and squirmy. I am not going for lop-sided quirky squirmy. I want sweet and smart and lovely. But no, it just eludes me. And I suddenly find myself slammed again so there’s no chance for procrastination while it passes. (I am still battling with walks and yoga and stuff though).

Also, I just did a phone interview and think I sounded like a complete ass. I talked too fast and my answers were half-formed and I believe I even did a bit of the giggling. How old am I? Maybe I won’t tell you when it posts so you aren’t tempted to hear me babbling like a baboon…

…which I seem to be doing right now. I just can’t seem to stop!

argh.

Forgot to mention: my rep has a brand new site that is all smooth and wonderful and stuff. (Great job Josh!) And on this site I have a little blog where I plan to just post about work related things (in other words: no looney bin stuff). I’ll update it in a little while.

Also, if you want to go straight to my section on Scott’s new site and look at my sketches or studio (check out my photographs of my “studio” and see how well I hid how hideous working in the corner of my bedroom is. hee). Click here.

I think all artists get to feel that looney bin sometimes ;)

Just pulled a Spirit Animal card for you (by Susan Seddon Boulet) ~

    FROG
A symbol of feminine energy, creation, fertility…

“The frog is a creature of the water and has been associated with new life.
In Egypt, they were placed on mummies to facilitate rebirth. The abundance of frogs at the time of the annual Nile Flood also associated them with fecundity. (I love that word - fecundity)
In South America, the Orinoco people considered the frog to be lord over water - a feminine symbol, and did not kill them. Among Native American peoples of North America, the frog has
    been associated with the moon.”

For me… this signals that what you are experiencing is a cyclical expression of life, creativity and energy. What is coming will be potent and beautiful… and right now the seeds are growing in the dark stinky mud (that is the most fertile soil around).

    Blessings,
    Leonie

Thanks for the props penny :) BTW, I was fishing through my piles of old defunct artworks (the ones I thought turned out not so well), and turns out that since I’ve been away from them, I found at least one halfway finished painting that took on a whole new look, and now I have plans to finish it. I guess they just don’t look immediately good because they don’t meet the vision in our head. Sometimes we still create good work but don’t realize it until we forget the original vision, heh. Unfortunately this isn’t so good when your under deadline and stuff.
