Momentum Mag Cover, “Emerald Cities”

I recently worked with art director Sarah Karnas on the cover of Momentum Magazine for the University of Minnesota, June edition. The cover story payed tribute to sustainable communities across the globe, spotlighting green development efforts in developing countries — from the barrios of Colombia to the villages of Tanzania. It was a fascinating article! Here’s how the cover turned out (we played with the Emerald “green” city idea):

  2. Hey Penelope, this might just be my favourite ever piece of yours. A stunning, rich illustrative solution with more to see every time I look.

Awesome composition and colours + the spots are also ace!

Great to see the mama’s illustration creativity is only getting better and better with the addition of a little one in your life. Sadly the opposite was true for me, but instead I have taken up knitting and sewing! Love the emerald cities illo, can you tell us how you made it. I love your work and would love to see a little run down of the creative process including materials and mediums. Can you interview yourself for IF???
