My version: If I’m bored, I’m lazy.

I have so much to do and experience in life that I think it’s nearly impossible for me to ever truly be bored. However, I am guilty of whining, “I’m booooored!” on several occasions. What I really mean, though, is that I’m feeling too lazy to do any of the millions of things I could and should be doing. :)

That is truly one of my favorite sayings in life. I come from a college town near Chicago, so everyone that goes to school here complains about how boring it is, because we don’t have all the huge, fun, exciting things that Chicago can offer. When I went to college here myself the friends I made all said that they had the most fun hanging out with my group of friends because me made our own fun, instead of the people in the dorms who complained and expected the fun to come to them.
I realized early on if I ever felt bored, it was more of a laziness issue, not for a lack of things to do.

Tell me about it. With a kid, there never seems to be enough time to do anything. When offered the occasional (rare) opportunity of a free day and night (i.e. boys away on a roadtrip, I’ve got the house for myself), I often find the vast amount of choice on how to spend my time quite paralyzing. Oftentimes I end up cuddling up in my blanket and doing nothing, or ironing. How boring.

that is so true! my mother tried the same trick and it totally worked. i feel the same way about the world and life being so rich, i can’t decide what to do! it’s so wonderful! that those baby nubbins? so sweet. i’m so glad you are enjoying your lovely baby!

yup that’s something I didn’t fully appreciate until I had my first child, and although I had less time on my hands I some how (bit by bit, day by day) learned how to get the most out of my time and achieve more than I had ever done before. 10 years on I still feel that way, I don’t have time to be bored and life is fulfilling both as a mother and an artist. Not perfect, but that would be boring!!

My grandmother used to say the exact same phrase to me and it has always haunted me (in the best way). What a better creative umph in the tuckus than that huh? Perfectly places the responsibility back on our own imaginative potential. thanks for the inspiring post and links :)
