I just wanted to stop by and wish you a healthy and happy new year… God bless you and that little being inside you… and don’t feel bad about not enjoying pregnancy… I had the most textbook pregnancy possible, and I too was like, UGH! (and I also always felt like I couldn’t breathe – whether it was d/t “pregnancy congestion” or some little person lying against my diaphragm – it was so annoying!)… and like you said, “And I am not ungrateful for the gift.” Happy 2009 to you and yours.
Thanks for the open-hearted post. The year 2008 is indeed gone and good riddance to it. It hasn’t been so swell for many of us and we echo your desire to see it gone, close the door and move on. Don’t feel too sorry for your feelings about pregnancy. After two very successful pregnancies (8 years apart), I, too was more than happy to be done with the process. It is a means to an end in my mind, nothing more. My husband and I have two beautiful children, my own baby daughter is now almost 14 and my boy now 5. Once you cuddle that sweet little infant in your arms, pregnancy will be just a blip on the radar. Keep looking forward and embrace all the wonder you have ahead of you.

have recently stumbled onto your blog (inspiring, btw) and just wanted to wish you many blessings with the upcoming arrival of your new baby. my little one turns 3 this month — motherhood has been a journey sometimes turbulent, sometimes tearful, sometimes blissful, sometimes heartbreaking and sometimes heart lifting but all of it a journey lined with love. wishing you all the best as your journey begins. :)
Oh, Penelope! You will feel joy in 2009, I promise.
My little Otto is now 3 mounths and i can´t describe the happiness I feel when Im with him. Even his father thisnks I´m too much, but he just gives me so much joy. Even if hes had stomachace constantly since he was born. He´s the greatest.
I wish you all the best of luck!
Penelope, I never succeeded in becoming pregnant and have a beautiful boy adopted from Vietnam who’s almost 8. You can count me in as one reader who is *not* offended by your comment about not really enjoying being pregnant from a physical perspective. Despite the disappointment of infertility, that was not something I ever missed.
hey beautiful! i appreciate the thoughts you shared. pregnancy has been a ride–unpredictable and ever changing. i can’t say it’s all been ‘fun’, but it’s been an experience i’m soaking up and still trying to observe with curiosity AND compassion. it’s a journey alright. like you, though, i’m most looking forward to holding this new being in my arms and embracing the rest of our lives together.
you and colin and baby are in my thoughts and i’ll be praying for a safe and gentle delivery. i can’t wait to meet her, too! even cyber-speaking. xoxojs
i opened my IPL electric bill the other day, and had a pleasant surprise of seeing your artwork on a paper telling me how to conserve energy! very cool :)

BYE BYE 2008! I agree, let’s not look back and just go forward. Things tend to flow more smoothly when you are going forward.
wishing all of you all the best for a bright 2009, nà

i agree with all of that! be done, 2008, and helloooo, 2009! it seems to be a popular theme.
