I have lived in Cincinnati practically my whole life, and I had no idea we had a SIGN MUSEUM here. Intriguing... that might merit a visit. I also wish I'd known of this panel discussion-- sounds like it would have been valuable. Ah, well. Hope you enjoyed your visit to the Queen City!

at the end of every year i fill out a year-end report and goals form. it's funny, but i had to do one every year at hallmark and then every year i was with my rep. it highlights everything i did and accomplished during the year and outlines ideas and goals and wishes (both professionally and personally) for the next year. i just never stopped doing it after i went on my own, and it's always a really positive thing to see where i've come, where i'm at, and where i think i might want to go. usually, as i start working on it, i start with simple goals and soon, what really matters always surfaces.
it's also interesting too, now with the baby on the way, what is most clear to my heart seems brighter and the things that really don't matter so much anymore are more obvious as well.
btw, cool letter signs. xojenny

I find myself thinking about what direction take my work all of the time. I have a tendency to look at other fantastic work out there and get a bit discouraged with my work. Then I realize that I have my own voice, and that I just need listen to it.

I believe directions and goals are just part of the process and growth of an artist. It's another "voice" that makes you look at hour work in a different way.

Thanks for sharing!

Yes I know what you mean, as an independant creative I sometimes find myself looking for goals and feeling a bit lost as far as direction. But also feeling excited realising that it's ME at the reigns. But you know they say (and I wouldn't know first hand because I haven't been there, yet) but they say when you have a baby your whole world flips and perspectives change. Maybe hang tight and see what happens?

i struggle with that!!! i really appreciate and identify with your thoughts on creativity/creative direction. you posted previously about having the thought of "what if i never have a creative thought ever again?" i have that thought sometimes, and it is nice to hear that someone else also puts it into those words--and finds her way out of that spot again.
it's nice to read your honest thoughts on the creative process.
