SF Chronicle – Bubblegum

bubblegumfun.jpg

A new illustration for SF Chronicle’s “My Word” section. The story was about a little boy who loved gum… everything else around him melted away and he was content as could be just chewing his gum.

I had a lot of fun with these warm colors… I love orange and pink right now.

I also wanted to add a note that I’ve been regularly posting new illustrations in the “News” and “Work” sections of my site. If you want to get updates when I post, sign up for the RSS feed of the site, over there in the right-hand side bar (or at the top in the url bar). Hope that helps! … Maybe I should post them here as well?

beautiful colors and atmo. and the boy is amazing, just perfect. The whole style looks a bit 50s but it’s still all yours. (If you know what I mean — my English isn’t that good.)
    I really like it!

  9. Betsy says:

I love orange and pink, too. I really like how orange does something just a little bit abrasive to pink. I love that the boy’s entire world is pink.

I adore this illustration. I think I will have my fourth grade students write the stories it inspires. I hope that’s OK with you. I’m so excited about this idea. I’ll let you know how it goes.

  11. I love how to see your work has progressed over the last several years. Have you thought about an\ video showing start to finish your work! Flickr does 90 sec vids. Perhaps speed it up to fit in 90 seconds. My daughter and i have been fans for several years. She is now 11 and wants to be an artist.
