Chookooloonks: We made the garland by gathering 2 five-gallon buckets full of pine cones from the woods. Then wrapped the tops with strings of twine, hiding the string under the scales of the pine cones. Then we hung up a very long piece of twine around the door and simple started hanging the pine cones from it in clusters… varying lengths of twine to get it to look right.

In retrospect, fishing line might have been simpler because you wouldn’t have to hide it. :)

Apart from the last pic. it all sounds like you had a lovely time, especially the painting with kids and bonfire experience! Great looking porch+garland!

ahhh, the fires! we had one, too. and now the wood stove (inside) is cookin, and i have a perfect view of the flames dancing in between my two monitors! feel better soon!

What a beautiful way to bring in the holidays. Minus the sickness, but sounds like that gave you some rest.
