  5. denise says:

Hmmmm….well, Britney Spears had her baby. Is that good news or bad news?

Either way, a surefire way to get some good news for the day is to go to:
    http://www.goodnewsnetwork.org

They list only things that are good news…about the world, the weather, health, pets, etc..

    Hope you feel better soon!

  6. YMIL says:

    Hi, Miss Penelope!

I miss you guys so much, and I loved the great Bailey Face. Give large hugs to
him and Noah and Vince. And take even larger ones for you and Col.

Find and take from the boxes what you need to live with for the next 16 days, and I’ll be like a whirling dervish Saturday the 30th.

    Love and hugs
    YMIL

  7. Tara says:

Well, I don’t know if this will help or not, but I just wanted to let you know that you totally inspire me. I’m an art teacher and I get so many great ideas from your site. And I love reading your entries. Sometimes I’m going through the same kind of stuff that you talk about- feeling uncentered, that my work isn’t good enough, all that stuff. I LOVE this blog. When I feel just kind of “blah”, I always know I can find a little spot of sunshine here. Thanks for your efforts- I can tell you put a lot of work into this. I feel kind of like you’re my friend even though we don’t know eachother.
    Tara

  8. kelly says:

    hang in there miz lope!
it is cold and rainy in middle
indiana this week. i will assume
it is warmer and sunnier there!
i dig the if farm piece. reminds
me of growing up and my big green
barn that set next to our big red
    house off of 32 east….

    blessings!

  9. I have been thinking all evening. I have pondered fun and happy things to
show you/tell you. There are a lot of great choices, however this is the best
that I could come up with:

You and your loved ones are in my heart and on my mind.

  10. Leonie says:

    Hi poppet,
Was just thinking of you, so thought I’d drop you a line, only to read your blog entry.

There is *SO MUCH* good in this world (contrary at times to pop culture belief).

    SO MUCH good.

Like, yesterday I felt like the ass had fallen out of my life,
but then i had a picnic in the park,
and I got my ass back, and even better, it was frolicking.

    Other good things:
I am constantly amazed and inspired by the stories of women around me.
A girl who used to work with us got dumped last night. So we took her out at lunch today,
bought her gelato, told her the ex was a bastard anyway, that she now got to dream what she
Really Truly Deeply wanted in her life. And then we got to talking about the Law of Attraction
and the “Secret” movie… and I thought, wow, how good is this ~ we are all evolving,
and sharing our stories of heart break and heart mend. It really was rather remarkable.
So was the gelato (mango gelato is like a summer party in my mouth).

    Another good thing:
Having a womens date on Sunday to make a collaged dreamboard of all the things we wish to draw into our lives. There is nothing better than circling with women, creating and dreaming huge-o-mongo.

Anyhewsles, I believe in ya Lopes,
you’re gunna be all good mate.

    love
the aussie who thinks of you from across the globe!

  11. KimC says:

Get a Korean Body Salt Scrub. YUM. that you are doing something spectacular with your life and spirit! That you inspire many. You are just opening a new book, to a brand new page. It is all fun ;) well, when you look back, it all looks fun.

  12. hildarose says:

Read all these comments and know that you have a load of people rooting for you.

Just relax, change is difficult but necessary. If one didn’t change then one couldn’t expand and get better.

You cannot get everything done at once, believe it or not. Just a couple of things everyday and eventually all will fall into place. At the end of everyday look back and go over everything you did (not everything you didn’t do), sit down with a glass of wine and the people you love and breath.

    Keep rollin’

  13. wee says:

Chocolate. The answer is ALWAYS chocolate.

I know it’s overwhelming, but all you have to be responsible for is YOU, your happiness, your well-being, your spirit. Don’t think you have to tackle everything at one. You don’t. Slow it down as much as you can, say no to anything that feels too hard right now, and know that I get it!

It’s going to be okay, It is. Really!

  14. shona says:

It looks like fall is here!

  15. Maux says:

People can say what they want about New Englanders’ dispositions: this morning, someone paid my toll for me on the commute into the office. I’ll be paying someone else’s on the ride home to pay it forward.

    That’s something good, yes?

  16. monicalee says:

That is the cutest picture. Penny, moving sucks, plain and simple and you have alot on your plate right now. Last time I moved I got so mad at my husband for going to work everyday and leaving me in the house with boxes! How about this… “This is the day the Lord has made, rejoice and be glad in it.”

  17. Rach:) says:

Remember those invisible red threads that connect us and guide us where we need to be and to those individuals we are meant to be with? Relax and let it guide you – it’s brought you this far, it won’t let you down now. Someday we’ll know why it’s red.

An invisible red thread connects those destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but never break.

    Chinese proverb

  18. susanna says:

A Bit of Good News (learned from my own post-moving experience):

There is someone in your new neighborhood, in your town, who will soon become your new close friend.

There is an undiscovered place outside your front door that will soon become your new favourite haunt.Maybe it’s a cool coffee shop around the corner? Or a second hand book store?

There will be new art and career opportunities for you in North Carolina, opportunities that may inspire you to try something entirely new!

PS – The Good News for your cutiepie kittycat is that there are lots of boxes for him/her to explore. Kitty Heaven!

  19. jimmy says:

Okay, here goes. On Saturday, I was all stuck with many thoughts about my career and some ongoing kid problems (health) and feeling that I needed to get it back (my illustration career). I work full-time as an art director and freelance at night. Life is relentless. I was listening to your iconic interviews and looking at your art and sketching when the thought of starting a blog, updating my 2002 site, working up a new body of work, getting a mailing list and overall marketing stategy together weighed in on me. I couldn’t get off the dime. So Sunday came and after church I came home and with renewed strenght and lots of inspiration from you too I might add, I created the blog. One piece in the big puzzle but an important 1st step. I owe much of it to you. And by the way, your trek on behalf of your sister-in-law is just as inspiring. We need to see more love like that in this world. God will reward you and your husband for giving the gift of yourselves. Tell him we admire him too. I barely know you but feel deeply for you, your family, your house and career. Don’t give in, even though ANYONE WOULD with what you have on your plate. Enough words. My prayers for you all. THANK YOU!

  20. maureen says:

  23. flossy-p says:

  25. Diong says:

One box at a time… and gray and below 10 degrees weather is coming to Indy… :-)

  26. melly says:

Spots! On noses are so good.
I hear you, perhaps the planets are malaligned? Breath. go outside, simplify.

  27. Tom says:

Everything is a challenge. Challenges are neither good nor bad in nature, but mere obstacles to be overcome. And what’s best is, God doesn’t give you more than you can handle.

  28. Tom says:

And it’s supposed to frost in Indiana next week. Soon you’ll miss winter and all the gray days, substituting a sweater for those poofy marshmallow coats.

  29. Judy says:

You are a huge inspiration to me and to so many others. Thank you for yourself.

  30. erika says:

hmm, good things. you are very loved and you’re not alone through this. i think that’s the best part of the whole experience. you’ll get through it, just think of all the new adventures and inspiration you’ll find :)

  31. susan says:

    something(s) good ….
    you are loved by many!
today there is something wonderful waiting to happen.
warm weather will be terrific in february.
you can draw something which no one else can.
you inspire everyone who meets you!
you can go swimming outside somewhere today.

  32. Tami Traylor says:

    Because you live…
You are here on earth…right now.
You have love in your life and you love others.
You are able to walk, run, skip, move.
You are with the living on this ever changing planet.

Embrace all the good in your life. Leave stress behind.
Losing a friend at the age of 41 this week made me rethink the silly things in life that used to bring me down. Give hugs and kisses to the ones you love right now and tell them you are thankful for their being here with you. Never hold back because may never get the chance again.

Thanks for being such an inspiration to me and so many others.

I’m glad you are on the east coast, now!

  33. AEM says:

Years ago I read that, upon arriving in a new place, immediately unpack your books and place them in the bookshelf. Being an avid reader, I started doing just that (I move a LOT). There’s something about 1) unloading all those book boxes 2) having one little area – the bookshelf – that’s kind of already arranged 3) being able to have both things done in a very short period of time that is very satisfying and helps a place feel more like “home” more quickly.

Also: if you haven’t already, scope out the following: good grocery store (or nearest grocery store); pharmacy (if it’s not in said grocery); trusty and less-expensive gas station; and, for me – Target (or other such household supply all-in-one). Hardware/Home Depot/Lowes optional. Knowing how to get to these few places easily (you can keep a list of these places in your purse or car; or print outs of maps, etc.) – you start to feel like you live there and know the area more. You’ll become more and more aware of other places as time goes on, but these seem to be the ones that you use weekly (or daily).

Over the years, I’ve survived on these two strategies. Hope they help you as well.

  34. Lorna says:

Don’t forget all those adventures you are going to have. All that exploring. All the inspiration you will discover with fresh eyes that will dance from your mind, through your soul, to your fingertips and out onto canvas.

Living in a big house is overrated- once you find a place for everything you’ll relish being so close to all your stuff. If you need open space then step outside. :o)
