$10.99. $10.99?!

bras.jpg
Last night I went out in search of a strapless bra. I’d been to all the usual places and none of my findings floated my boat. So as a last ditch effort, I tried Kmart. I don’t know what the Kmart by you is like, but the one near my house is a complete dumpski. In fact, the whole area surrounding is bad. I like to call it K-march-right-out-of-there. But I was desperate (as desperate as you can be for a bra, I guess… which is to say, not very).

Anyway, I ventured through the front doors and wandered straight back to the lingerie department, trying to ignore Martha Stewart seducing me with her two-dollar beach towels. I was mid-search when I noticed some colorful bras made by Joe Boxer. The tags said $10.99. $10.99?! … Now all the ladies out there probably recognize this as the steal that it is, but I called my husband to tell him of my find and he just didn’t get it. I got a “Great, honey. When will you be home?” :)

So I took about 10 of these underwired treasures back to the dressing room and tried them all on to discover that not only were they $10.99, they were $10.99 worth of comfort! I beamed with satisfaction. (Doesn’t take much to make me happy, does it?)

When it was all over I left Kmart with five new bras in tow, including the elusive comfortable strapless bra. I figured I was probably not going back to Kmart for a good couple of years, so I’d better stock up. And I left a very happy Lope.

Well- 5 comfortable bras is awesome. But it does not compare to my 6 awesome tank tops for $58.25 at Fashion Bug
I got two ribbed long tank tops, two notched tanks with beading, one plum victorian looking cotton tank top with beading,
and an awesome bright peach tank, all for 58.25! Even the husband was pleased. Although, great- when will you be home- as about excited as he gets!

Now Penny is off for her Fashion bug adventure. LOL

That is hilarious and wonderful…to find such treasures at K-Mart. Go Joe Boxer! Now you probably
hope they don’t go out of business, so you can keep finding them there.
I love the bra sketch. Can I get a copy of it to put in my new bathroom? Really.

Haha…that’s very funny because I had a similar experience a few months back. AT Kmart! WITH bras! I have a hard time finding ones that fit me and I’ve searched high and low. Expensive Victoria’s Secret bras arent’ worth the price because they never fit. I usually end up getting cheapo ones at Target which seem to fit (almost) my boney butt much better. Believe me, I have a whole drawer filled with bras that don’t fit right. From the expensive ones I feel bad throwing out all the way down to the bottom o’ the barrel TJ Max brands I’ve never heard of. One day I decided I finally decided that I was sick of rotating my two whole bras that actually fit and went on a bra hunt. To my dismay, Target was out of my (almost) size. I ended up going to the Kmart nearest to my house. That Kmart is super Ghetto Fab. Actually, more like falling apart. Even the parking lot has potholes that can swallow up my Mini Cooper if I dont’ drive carefully – it’s that bad. Anyway, long story short – I found bras that fit me in more than 1 color there! I excitedly called my MOM because I knew that my husband just wouldnt’ “get” my excitement. And I bought them all!

Nothing makes me happier than a reasonably priced bra that fits! It seems like an impossible mission and Victoria’s Secret is on my crap list. Glad you found a deal. I would have squealed on the phone with you if you called me and told me :) lol.

The bra and panties fairies were showering you with luck that day! Five! Wow!
I have to mentally and emotionally prepare myself beforehand for hours of bra shopping under fluorescent lighting. I mean, really! What’s with the lighting in the women’s changerooms??!

hey-just found your blog through a link and another link…etc!
anyway, this post is hillarious and I had to tell you that I feel you on this one-yes, kmart here is and has always been super dumpy-and the one time my husband tried to buy my a “fancy” bra as a gift he came home to tell me he couldn’t imagine spending $20 or more on a bra-clueless. Anyway, your illustrations are amazing and thanks for the laugh!

I too discovered these little treasures during a visit to Florida this summer. Forget the $25-$40 ones, Joe Boxer has the comfort, the look and the price! I buy these whenever I see them to slowly replace all the ‘expensive’ and ‘uncomfortable’ ones (but at those prices I could do it all at once!). Now, what else can we talk about!!
